How (not) to do an essay
Friday
10:00 am Received notification on the release of essay questions
7:30 pm Sit down to start reading up for essay
(unaccounted passage of time)

2:11 am Found one useful point - that's about 10 words (a sentence) covered
3:04 am Laugh at ridiculous pics of James McAvoy
5:37 am 394 words written out of 2200 words. FML? YEAH! Sleep.
9:37 am Wake up 2:17 pm 25% of first leg of this mighty journey down
2:30 pm Start compiling stuff for the next part
8:30 pm 50% work done. Dinner break.
10:00 pm Back to work
11:00 pm Shower.

7:45 pm Google the existence of unwrinkled raisins (they don't exist, but some people are convinced they can be found....one day)
8:36 pm Decide that by 9:00 pm must start writing and end at 12:00 am, then do editing
8:45 pm Start Googling how to write a paper in one night - browse several articles on how to create a conducive homework space for your child
9.10 pm Beat fruit ninja highscore!
10:53 pm Introduction written
11:05 pm 167 words out of 1100 words into the essay.
11:06 pm Play a round of fruit ninja, get awarded perfectionist award AND beat highscore
11:10 pm Back to work, i.e. reading materials and playing jigsaw with arguments (work interspersed with copious amounts of visits to twitter and Facebook)
Monday
2:00 am Sudden realisation that my argument is FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG; this is....SPARTAAA! RAWRRRR; panic attack; demobilise current plan; fall back and regroup! FALL BACK AND REGROUP!
2:10 am Remobilisation with increased vigour (reconstructing base argument like a baus)
5:40 am 10 minute nap
5:50 am Resume work

But it was minor. I mean, how bad can a grammatically incorrect sentence highlighted in green be right? Right. Good morning!
How the heck did I miss out the neon green highlight when I scrolled through....multiple times?
So yes. Above timeline is NOT a continuous account of my activities, but a random account (i.e. whenever I remembered that I was keeping this list, I'd just jot down whatever I happened to be doing at that time). My productivity on Saturday was BAUS-like but on Sunday it seemed like all I wanted to do was listen to Led Zeppelin and AC/DC and Glee and Baby (yes, the Bieber Baby) and hop around the internet.

Did you know that in zen mode, you get a 'Perfectionist Award' for restarting the fruit ninja game several times in a row because you missed a fruit? I was killing time, like one does when a paper is due, by trying to slice EVERY SINGLE FRUIT and I restarted like 3-4 times in a row then...voila! Perfectionist award.
(bonus interesting fact: this happened in the toilet. yup. baus.)
No DOS

but my heart's on fire
My hands are cold...
Now that, was definitely not a night of sweet dreams. Bittersweet, maybe. Sad, maybe. After wiping away ghosts of tears, though...Good morning!
Things I'll be doing:
Study
Eat
Shower
Sleep
Buy Milo
And lastly, a haiku:
Morning wake-up shower
Tentacled wad of wet hair by the drain
And I think: "Disgusting."

Wake up, and smell my cup of coffee :)
To that guy who looked like ryan ross from the side: i wish i had just ditched the crazy ass lunch hour lines to stalk you in real life. oh wait...that's what i stalkerishly did. but i lost sight of you once you exited union house. i also lost my place in the queue. woe is me.

hey
After the morning where I made a mistake in a split second decision, it is good to make a decision now that is for the better. Now I made a decision to let it go and start afresh again. Sometimes we keep on making mistakes, in thought or action, but instead of dwelling on it and sinking deeper into contemplation...start afresh. Let that mistake go and make the right one the next time :)

#1
A short memory of that one night at church camp, sleeping in sleeping bags in the worship hall.
#2
Taylor Swift. (Interpret however you may.)
#3
Hair.

Today was a shitty day, if you really care to know. Self, stop expecting cuz expectations only give people room to hurt you or for yourself to feel hurt when you realise you weren't on the same page. For what it's worth, at least I'm not blathering all over Facebook about how crap I'm feeling.
*deflates
Can't wait for sunrise now.

flashbang
Thus far in 2011 I have had only two horrible salad encounters. I am sitting here contemplating the numero uno worst salad purchase of 2011. I must say forefront that it is not the salad in itself that is terrible, but more that my decision to purchase this salad was stupid. This also applies to my second-worst salad purchase of 2011.
The second-worst salad purchase which occurred earlier this year was a black-eyed peas [har! half prawn. it's okay if you don't get this digression.] salad which I bought because I missed breakfast and was starving after one of my classes. The salad was at first pretty okay but soon turned a little unappetising after consuming one-third of it. What a waste of AUD 6.90.
Today's salad is a rice salad. Very refreshing: wild rice, carrots, capsicum, raisins, fruit bits and green salad leaves. I barely ate one-eighth of it before labeling it my worst salad purchase and thinking mournfully of my AUD 6.90. This is because...I was no where near hungry when I decided to buy this salad. I was just attracted to it because it was colourful and I lingered too long near the salad bar, causing me to be 'pukau'-ed into forking out that ten-dollar bill.
Sad face.
FMDM.
(DM = decision making)
